Chapter 22: Algebraic equations (Part 3)

22.1 Introduction

You go to the movies with friends, and you all buy popcorn and chocolate to eat while you are there. The chocolate costs \(\text{R} 20\) more than the popcorn, and the movie ticket costs twice what the chocolate cost. Will you have enough money for everything? This is a real algebra problem!

In this chapter, you will continue to work with algebraic equations and focus on using substitution to generate tables of ordered pairs. This work will help you to prepare for the next chapter, in which you will learn about graphs. You will also solve problems that involve setting up and solving algebraic equations. The problem solving skill will empower you in different areas of your life, and it will make you more creative and resilient in everything you do.
